Suchit Sogani

From a modest beginning as a technical support engineer to building a growing life science solutions company, Suchit Sogani’s journey reflects the power of technical knowledge, field experience and entrepreneurial persistence.

In an industry where scientific expertise and technical support can make as much difference as the technology itself, Suchit Sogani, Founder of GC Life Science, has built his entrepreneurial journey around a simple principle: understand the laboratory’s requirement first and then provide the right solution.

Sogani’s journey in biotechnology began in 2002, when he chose to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology. At a time when biotechnology was still facing uncertainty and limited opportunities, entering the field was a challenging decision.

After graduating in 2006, he began his professional career as a Technical Support Engineer with a small distributor company. His first salary was around ₹7,000 per month, but the experience he gained in the field proved far more valuable than the size of the organisation or the initial pay.

Travelling extensively, visiting research institutes and laboratories, installing and servicing biotechnology equipment, and supporting scientists with applications gave him an understanding of the practical side of laboratory technology.

Over the years, Sogani gained more than a decade of industry experience, including professional exposure with Takara, a Japanese multinational company. In 2014, he decided to take the entrepreneurial route and returned to his hometown, Jaipur, where he founded GC Life Science.

What started as a one-person operation from home gradually developed into a company focused on life science, molecular diagnostics, high-end diagnostic solutions and turnkey laboratory projects.

Building a Company Around Laboratory Needs

Sogani says his experience in the field helped him identify a significant gap in the laboratory solutions market.

While scientists and doctors often have highly specialised scientific requirements, selecting the right instruments, reagents and technologies can be challenging when technical and application expertise is limited at the distribution level.

For GC Life Science, this became an opportunity to create a different kind of customer experience one based on understanding the application before recommending a product.

Q: What inspired you to start GC Life Science?

Suchit Sogani: My inspiration came from my experience in the biotechnology industry. I saw that customers did not simply need a product. They needed someone who could understand their scientific requirement and recommend the right technology.

In 2014, after more than a decade of industry experience, I decided to return to Jaipur and start GC Life Science.

We started very small. Initially, it was just me working from home. But the vision was clear: to provide complete life science and molecular diagnostics solutions.

Our focus was never only on selling equipment. We wanted to provide equipment, reagents, applications, training, installation and ongoing technical support as a complete solution.

Q: Why did GC Life Science develop such a comprehensive portfolio?

Suchit Sogani: Biotechnology and molecular diagnostics involve highly technical products, and the wrong selection can have a significant impact on laboratory performance and investment.

Our philosophy has always been simple: first understand the application and then recommend the right technology and product.

That is why our portfolio includes instruments, reagents, chemicals and consumables. We want to provide a complete solution rather than sell an individual product.

At the same time, we believe advanced technology should be economically viable without compromising quality, reliability or performance.

Addressing Challenges Through Technical Expertise

GC Life Science works with diagnostic and research laboratories as well as pharmaceutical, healthcare and other scientific organisations.

The company focuses on helping customers address challenges related to technology selection, laboratory applications, implementation and technical support.

Q: What key challenges do you help laboratories solve?

Suchit Sogani: One of the major challenges is identifying the right technology for the right application.

Our role is to understand what the laboratory actually needs and then provide a suitable solution. This includes not only selecting the instrument or reagent but also supporting installation, training and application requirements.

We believe technology creates value only when the laboratory is able to use it effectively and obtain reliable results.

Designing Laboratories for Today and Tomorrow

GC Life Science has also expanded into turnkey laboratory setup and customised laboratory solutions.

Q: How do you approach turnkey laboratory projects?

Suchit Sogani: We first understand the complete project requirement application, available space, technical requirements, expected demand and future needs.

Since most of our business is B2B, we also try to understand what our client’s customers ultimately require. That helps us design a solution that is practical and sustainable.

We then evaluate economic feasibility and scalability before providing a customised solution that is technically efficient, commercially viable and capable of delivering the required quality.

Application Support at the Core

In laboratory technology, the relationship with a customer does not end after the installation of an instrument. Training, application support, documentation and ongoing technical assistance can be equally important.

Q: What sets GC Life Science apart from other laboratory solution providers?

Suchit Sogani: Application support is one of our key strengths.

We regularly visit laboratories, understand their ongoing requirements, support them in ILC programmes and keep them updated about new technologies.

Our objective is to help laboratories improve accuracy, precision and overall testing efficiency.

For us, customer support is not simply a post-sales activity. It is part of the complete solution we provide.

Taking Advanced Technology to the Grassroots

Looking ahead, Sogani sees significant opportunities in India’s rapidly developing diagnostic, biotechnology, research and forensic sectors.

Q: What is your vision for GC Life Science over the next five years?

Suchit Sogani: Our vision is to make GC Life Science a strong and trusted partner in medical diagnostics, biotechnology, research and forensic science.

Technology is continuously evolving and becoming more advanced, precise, user-friendly and accessible. We want to continuously learn, stay updated with these developments and understand their feasibility and benefits for our customers.

Most importantly, we want advanced diagnostic and scientific solutions to reach not only major cities but also smaller towns and villages.

Our goal is that laboratories and patients across India can benefit from reliable, precise and modern technology regardless of where they are located.

Gratitude Behind the Journey

For Sogani, the growth of GC Life Science is not an individual achievement. He credits customers, family and his team for playing an important role in the company’s journey.

Q: Who would you like to thank for your journey and the growth of the organisation?

Suchit Sogani: First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to my customers, especially those who trusted me during the initial days when I started my journey. Their trust and support gave me the confidence to move forward.

I am equally grateful to my parents, my mother and father, and my grandparents. Their blessings, guidance and constant support have always given me the strength to face challenges and keep moving ahead.

I would also like to acknowledge my team, who have worked extremely hard and contributed significantly to the growth of the organisation.

Looking Ahead

The journey from a ₹7,000-per-month technical support role to building GC Life Science demonstrates how field experience can evolve into entrepreneurial vision.

For Suchit Sogani, the company’s future is not simply about expanding its portfolio or geographical reach. It is about connecting scientific requirements with appropriate technology and ensuring that laboratories have the expertise and support needed to use that technology effectively.

As India’s biotechnology, diagnostics, research and forensic sectors continue to evolve, GC Life Science aims to play a role in bringing modern laboratory solutions closer to institutions across the country.

From a small home-based beginning in Jaipur to a growing organisation serving laboratories and undertaking turnkey projects across India, Sogani’s story is ultimately one of knowledge, persistence, trust and purpose.
