Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Uzbekistan’s highest state honour during his visit to the country, describing the recognition as a proud moment and dedicating it to the people of India and the centuries-old friendship between the two nations.
Accepting the honour with humility, PM Modi thanked Uzbekistan’s leadership and people for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation. He said the award was not merely a personal recognition but an honour for India’s 140 crore citizens and the country’s thousands-year-old heritage.
Referring to the word “Dostlik,” meaning friendship, Modi said the honour reflected the deep sentiment at the heart of India-Uzbekistan relations. He dedicated the award to the longstanding ties and shared heritage between the two countries.
PM Modi also praised the leadership of Uzbekistan’s President, saying that his vision and friendship towards India had helped bilateral relations reach new heights. He noted that the relationship had been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Highlighting the responsibility that comes with receiving such an honour, Modi said India would never step back from its responsibilities. “This friendship will be fully upheld,” he said, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Uzbekistan.
The Prime Minister further stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in giving the Global South a united voice. He said India and Uzbekistan would work together for the welfare of the Global South and contribute to the broader mission of human welfare.
Concluding his remarks, Modi once again expressed his gratitude for the prestigious recognition, saying he accepted the honour with humility and dedicated it to the enduring friendship between the people of India and Uzbekistan.
